Your Board of Directors elected at the April 11 Annual Meeting are Matt Jett, President; Greg Schuelke, Vice President; Greta Walters, Treasurer; Joel Moore, Secretary; Gary Shoemake, Sergeant at Arms; Kaitlyn Henning, One-Year Member at Large; Taylor Burkhalter, Vendor Member; and two Past Presidents, Mike McCroskey and Frank De Leon. Thank you for your willingness to serve HCA’s members and help the Association grow. These officers will be installed at a future meeting. Our sincere thanks to Sharron West for her service to HCA as she rotates off the Board.



Houston Claims Association’s May CE Seminar will be held at the offices of Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s West Houston Administrative Office at 13805 West Road, on Wednesday, May 9, from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm. The four-hours of CE will be presented by Vertex Companies and Mike Fatter of ERAC. The programs,” Commercial Roofing”, “Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems”, and “Rental Reimbursement”, have been approved by TDI/Sircon. A light lunch will be included. Attendees are asked to park in the back of the building. Online cost is $42.50. Please RSVP and prepay attendees’ names through the HCA website, BY CLICKING HERE, by 5:00 pm, Friday, May 4.

To help streamline sign in, attendees are encouraged to prepay using the payment option offered with the registration page.

If you make a reservation and do not attend, HCA is still responsible for the expenses incurred. Therefore, if you make a reservation, your cancellation must be made by 5:00 pm Friday prior to the event. If not, an invoice will be sent to you so that the expenses may be recouped.

If you have a specific topic you wish to have presented or speaker you would like to hear, please contact Greg Schuelke, Joel Moore, or any Board Member.

Thank you, Haag Engineering, for stepping forward to host HCA’s Crawfish Boil, on Wednesday, May 16, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Mark your calendars now and go to the Events Calendar on the web site to RSVP for the evening. Haag’s facilities are located at 625 Industrial Blvd., Sugar Land, TX 77478. We are looking forward to a fun evening of delicious food and beverages, raffle and door prizes, and games. RSVP on the HCA website, Events Calendar by May 14.

Additional sponsorships are being solicited. Cost is $500.00. Sponsor’s logo will be placed in the Vendor Directory gratis for 6 months and will be allowed to distribute marketing materials and display banners/signage at the event.


Acting on the recommendation of the Scholarship Interview Panel, the HCA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the following recipients of the 2018-2019 scholastic year scholarships: Andrew De Leon, Matthew De Leon, Makinsie Ellis, Madelynn Marlow, April Phillips, Vivian Phillips, Deanna Smith, Meghan McCroskey, and the Barbara Buckley Award was presented to Madison Goss. Thanks are extended to the interview panel, Greg Schuelke, Craig Taylor, Greta Walters and Taylor Burkhalter. Congratulations to all!!

Please remember your student’s scholarship payment information is due by July 1. Scholarship checks will be mailed to the university/college on August 1.
